If January tussled endlessly between the warring factions of Tryanuary and Dry January (Dranuary? Nah) then I am henceforth declaring February to be Bevbruary. You can call it Bevuary if you like as it might roll off the tongue a tinge more easily, but with Bevbruary I can get in two beer punning references in one word. Winner.
Why the declaration? Because you are not shackled by resolutions and limitations anymore with the arrival of February! Yes the weather is still awful, but this is the shortest month, you’ve given up on the diet, you’re back on the sauce, and beer is easier and tastier than the gym. Fabulous. Join us in the comforting, warming blanket of Great Beer. The G-Whazzle got your back. Stat.
All jokes aside – January really wasn’t all that bad in our book – for all of humanity’s ever more extreme swings between left and right, gluttony and abstinence, vegan and meat bros, Dry January vs Tryanuary – most people still seemingly sit comfortably somewhat central, in the middle or balanced in outlooks, opinions and choices. So thanks for making January more than bearable, no matter what the (social) media might tell you.
Onwards and upwards though…..
FRESH BREWS!
It’s been absolutely marvellous seeing Beavertown ramp up the number of special beers they have been delivering in recent months. The quality has seemingly only improved with frequency and this weeks is no different. Say hello to Heavy Water Imperial Stout with Raspberries, Cacao & Vanilla. Whoah. Move quickly and you might still be able to grab some other specials such as the recent Verdant collaboration….
Arriving today (Thursday) or tomorrow will be TWO DIPA’s from Verdant. ‘Never Lost The Manifest’ is a collaboration with Honest Brew, whilst ‘Putty’ has been rebrewed and is tasting better than ever. Eyes on our shelves and online – these wont last long!
Our Belgian friends at De Molen deliver a great bunch of fresh beers this week. Quirks and Quinne is a gin & tonic inspired saison in collaboration with Beavertown (do they ever stop?). It tastes amazing. Also of note is Hemel & Aarde (BA Bowmore) – yep, that’s their legendary Imperial Stout aged in Bowmore Islay Whisky barrels. Smokey. Check out all the range….
New brewery on our shelves alert! Stu Mostów from Poland will be arriving today or tomorrow – including a Vanillia Chocolate Chili Scotch Ale collab with Jopen, a mango peach DIPA and more!
There’s also a new Magic Rock tallboy special, in collaboration with Dry & Bitter – ‘Small Voice’ is a Session IPA high on hops, but still wonderfully balanced.
Round-up: Omnipollo/Buxton ‘Yellow Belly’ is back one last time, loads of new Burning Sky to tuck into, a big re-up (and freshies) from New Zealand, and much much more….
